Rowing shell table

A couple of years ago my brother gave me the remains of a wooden rowing shell "ATALANTA VAN CALYDON" of the rowing club Aross.. This shell was wrecked in a potentially fatal accident, see the Dutch newspaper story at the end.

After many years lying in the attic of my workshop, at last I made the wreckage into a livingroom table for my son and his gilrfiend. Both are avid rowers and well known in student rowing, for Utrecht's ORCA.

Hope the table inspires you to make something nice of wreckage.

15 ft Cornish Flashboat

A rowing competition in Cawsand Cornwall got me interested in the Cornish Flashboat.
some internet browsing and a lot of meditative modelling and rendering resulted in this movie and images.

Why are the flashboats combining sweep rowing with sculling? Because the bow and rear are too narrow for sculling?

Sailing Rowing Camping boat

Another rendering for the competition winning design of teh sailing rowing camping boat.
The Royal Dutch Sailing and Rowing club `De Maas` called for a design with sliding seats, sailing capability and `sleeping´ arrangement, and very shallow draft.

This rendering shows klinker construction and was for a clear indication that klinker building is all about flowing lines and precission, because all mistakes are well visible.
